This place should be shut down!
Unprofessional - needs to be investigated
Been a regular since the beginning. 8/8/17 changed everything. Blackjack is my game and the odds are worse than any casino I've been to. The machine shuffle gives the house a much bigger advantage. The dealer hardly breaks because the cards are clumped. You will see lots of time 20 to 30 cards that are small or big. This happens at every blackjack table except for one that is hand shuffle because they could not fit the machine at that table. Back to why I'm done with them. On 8/7/17, I was up 6k. The following day i went back and lost all it back and proceed to dip into my pocket for my last 1k. I won back 2.5k and left the table with 3.5K In chips to go get something to eat. I came back to the table to play a little bit more after I ate. The pit boss asked me to fill a form for tax purposes. I asked why do I need to fill out a form if I've lost half of my money today? The pit boss stated that the system tracked that I've won 10k. I said that's not possible and refused to fill it out. He said that I cannot play if I don't comply. At that point I took my money back and left. What pisses me off is that they are so unprofessional. They do not keep good track of what you buy in. They should not use the data of what people buy in. Lots of time they don't ask for your card and will not record the transaction to the right player. They need to be investigated for shady business.
Don't waste your time and money. All the big $ regulars have stopped going. Go to a real casino like Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods where they will treat you right!
Oxford Casino refused to pay costumer for thier wi
Not worth the stop.
This place is a sham! I don't play slots but recommendations for my wife say that the slots are very tight. My game a choices roulette, there is an even a history board for what numbers came out previously. I feel like you should just spend the extra time on the road and go to a legitimate establishment like Mohegan sun and/or Foxwoods.
This place is a joke
Had been going there for 4 years just because it was close to home. Over priced drinks and food. Lousy inexperienced dealers. Slots that don't pay out. Dont waste your time and money. Bangor is way better.
Do not go
Sick & tied of losing ...
Betrayed for my loyalty
I have been going to Oxford Casino since its inception. With the huge losses I've incurred I was accustomed to $400.00/week free plays. The most I have ever won was $2000.00 and that was maybe a couple of times. I got my free play card for the month of December and they are giving $75.00 free play. I have bought over 2 dozen new players to the casino, I most always bring someone with me, I got a call a few minutes ago from some one who wants to go tomorrow, Saturday because of the 2 storms expect next week. I said I will never go there again,. Bangor is offering me $150.00 to come back to them and I refuse. I once won $1000.00 free play and didn't make a penny! You people are so selfish, but I will tell you this I belong to every club in Ausya, I know literally hundreds of people. I brought hundreds of people to your casino and I will get hundreds to stop going, everyone is fed up with Oxford!
Had enough after five years of Wicked Fun
It continues to amaze me with no way to win
This casino is overall a bad experience. The machines payout horribly! It's been open for about 4 years and the largest payout they have had is 80,000. REALLY!! I was there recently and this poor old man about 85 had sat at a machine. The prior patron had left some credits in it and walked away. This elderly man put his money in and began to play. Immediately they had their security make him cash out and redeem his ticket to give him back what was later learned to be about 30. REALLY this guy had no idea there was money in it. They made a complete fool out of this man. This casino is nothing but a bad cancer in the hills of Maine. It was built on the promise of a four season resort and many jobs but as soon as the owners got the games turned on (no hotel or anything else started), they dumped it to Churchhill Downs. The machines are extremely tight and this casino had been reprimanded for not paying out the state payout requirements. We have recently formed a watch dog group to expose this in the media. It's shady and not WICKED GOOD FUN as they claim. They also recently changed their slogan to Southern Maines Casino because there is talk of a third one going in (in actual southern Maine). This is them trying to get people to vote against it thinking there is already one here. The real slogan should be "Oxford Casino... DEAD SPINS, NO WINS"
My wife and I have been going to also casino for 4 years down and all that time we spent thousands and thousands of dollars was a pay back about 12% this is not what we call fun gambling so don't waste your money go somewhere else we are
The biggest problem is that they don't pay
My wife and I have been going to Oxford casino for a little over 4 years and the biggest problem is that they don't pay out good. .We don't go thinking we are going to make money but it would be nice to get better than a 12% return so if you spend 1000 you may get back $120 this is not fun gambling to us. .I don't think their in compliance with the State on the percentage that they pay back. .This is not one time this is over a 4 year period. .So Don't Waste your Money Go to another Casino. We are. .
nice place but bad dealers
oxford casino is nice, but would be better if there were more tables for the available table games. i waited for almost an hour to play ultimate hold em while there was at least one other ultimate hold em table open with no dealer or players present. one guy at the table lost all his money but continued to sit at the table for 20 mins with no chips in front of him. you would think the dealer would kick him out of the seat so someone with money can sit. then i finally get a seat, and the dealer seems nervous as hell. his hands were shaky, he was dropping chips on the floor, he didnt seem to have a full understanding of the hand values, and he almost paid me incorrectly on a 3 to 1 full house. i understand mistakes happen from time to time, but to be consistently making mistakes is rather annoying. its a casino, and the patrons expect a knowledgeable and skilled dealer. other than that, its a nice place that i will return to and play again.
This casino is unique. How you ask? Where do we even start? I will detail my visits of 10/15 and 10/16. Let's start with 10/15. I entered the "casino" looking for entertainment. Think about this. If you took your kids to see the circus and each act was three minutes, what would you think? We'll, this place is no different. I entered the casino with $120.00. I placed my first $20 in a machine. Betting MINIMUM, it was gone in less than 3 minutes. I timed it on my iPhone. I get that it's gambling but $20.00 gone in 3 minutes?? I found this not to be an exception but the norm. Each machine I touched had the same result again and again. Today (10/16) was a carbon copy of 10/15. I decided to pay close attention to other patrons. No winners! I saw one woman, betting $1 per spin get a combination to go to the "bonus" round. If you have gambled, you know that typically you need three of a specific thing to enter the "bonus" spins. This patron (I witnessed this) got 9 NINE of the required item. 12 free spins, WON NOTHING!! I saw a man who was keeping track of how many "spins" he had without winning anything. 23!!! How does a machine spin that many times without paying even 1 penny? I asked 25 people if they were having any luck...all but 3 were happy. BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE! Today was senior citizens day! I love our elderly! Great stories and such sweet people! Today, I actually heard over the loudspeaker system (which we will get to momentarily) that these elderly people could get a cookie at the cafe. Really???? what is this place Romper Room! BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE! Go on Wednesdays between 10 and 1 and you will have the DISPLEASURE of hearing the WORST voice screaming over the P. A system! She calls out numbers (like a raffle) and gives patrons (ELDERLY) 3 minutes to leave their machines and go to a makeshift table next to the bar. They have to show ID and then are awarded $25.00 in free slot play. REMEMBER two things. ONE- ELDERLY PEOPLE CANT MOVE A FOOT IN THREE MINUTES! Secondly, $25.00 at this place will last less than 4 minutes here. Now before you all attack me with the "it's gambling and you have to expect to lose" montra, I get that! HOWEVER, I am paying for entertainment NOT to be swindled. This casino is HORRIBLE and I have even snuck a video camera in there and recorded how badly the machines pay out. It will be posted on YouTube shortly. I understand and respect this is a business and it is there to make money, if you want to be entertained, go to a movie and drive by this trap. It's not WICKED GOOD FUN. It's a WICKED BIG RIP OFF!
not the best
Casinos should provide free food and drink. If Maine cannot match Connecticut it will soon go bust.
NH's new neighbor
We have driven 2 hours to Oxford every few weeks since early July. We find the Casino and its staff more than satisfactory.
The new room added many more slot machines as well as amenities including additional cashiers, restroom and a free beverage bar, well stocked and maintained.
The Casino and rest rooms are spotless and the staff makes us feel welcomed.
Keep up the good work!
For just being open a short time , this place will be hot, it's a great addition to the local economy, Our second home is close by on Norway lake so we have been going every weekend, Staff are
friendly and take the time to teach games when possible, although there are no hotels close by, within 30 miles there are all kinds of lodging and rest. and as I said before it's in a recreation area with many lakes, ponds & ski ares with mid-week and weekend rentals.
I like this place very much. It is crowded at times but the other part will be open soon. I do not find the slots tight, just not enough at the moment. Lots of people leave by 9 and there are many slots available after that. I have been there over 20 times. Yes, a limited menu but very good.
small but fun
People are quick to complain. Yes it is small. No they are not allowed to comp drinks. Yes you have to step out to smoke. There is a good variety of slots. There are not many table games because this is the first phase and there is not enough space yet. I have gone with others 3 times and we always have fun. If you can't stand losing your money then you won't be happy in any casino. Given time and the expansion they plan it will be even better.
Better than Charlevoix or Montreal
First of all I'd say this casino as far as gambling goes is better than Montreal/Charlevoix for few reasons.
- You are allowed to drink in the gaming area
- $5 craps
- Low table minimums
- More recent slot machines
However, the casino lacking a hotel is problematic for travelers like me. The surrounding area does not have many restaurants or hotels.
The premises are very clean and modern. Big parking lot. Nice building too.
I did not find game king slot machines, so no blackjack, video poker or keno.. ? I suggest you call first and make sure they have the games you like.
I saw 1 craps table, 6x blackjack, 2x let it ride, 1x 3 card poker, 1x hold'em, 1x roulette. I am maybe missing one. They need a baccarat table bad for the Asian customers who love to play it. I understand they are expanding so we have to be patient.
The casino restaurant is fine as it is now for good reasons. The casino just opened, so they can't have a 10 page menu. They have pizza, pasta, burgers... phily cheesesteak was great.
Dealers are courteous but I have seen many mistakes over only a few hours at the BJ tables and Craps. Stickman was very fast, but I am a slow player :)
I will definitely travel to this location again ! Hopefully they keep allowing drinking and the low table minimums.
Don't know about the Players Club.
With no hotel onsite, a restaurant with the most limited menu I have ever seen, and no live entertainment, it has nothing to attract people from more than a short drive away.
Even if they add a hotel, why would anyone choose this as a destination?
The selection of hotels and restaurants nearby is almost non-exsistant, so I don't think this casino will be in business very long.
Is that all there is?
The room is small with not many table games, narrow aisles, slow drink service, few slots open, even in the afternoon. I live locally, so I'll try different hours, but wouldn't want to be stuck here on a bus trip. I did not try the food
I spent about two and a half hours with my $20.00. Left while I was ahead, started to get crowded and the availabe machines were not that interesting. It's an ok place to kill a few hours if you have people in town
not worth the wait
Went to the casino the 2nd night they were open. I was very eager to have another casino in Maine. The choice of machines to play was very poor, mostly pennies. Absolutly no gaming time for your money. Took forever to find someone to order a coffee. And as bad as hollywood slots has become as far as playing time goes, they have actually topped them on their second day. Didn't try gaming tables or hotel, but review form makes you fill in something.
