Cali wants you to spend your $$ in Nevada
Very easy to get to on the freeway from SD, this is a nice casino, albeit pieced together so it's a bit hard to navigate once inside. The blackjack games are first rate and the staff pleasant. I have even had a few decent runs at the tables. The Dreamcatcher Nightclub is also a great spot and a nice break from the action. I have had late/early breakfast at the 24 hour diner-type place, also very good and a big plate of food priced right with friendly staff but the a/c was cranked up so high it was a bit unpleasant. Cocktail service is decent as well, but not comped at the tables like you might find elsewhere. There is no hotel/resort here. The rest of the story is not so rosy. The players club card seems to be a joke. I have racked up my fair share of 'points' but they seem to have no real value. There have been no comps on anything. I was even offered a free buffet for signing up and never received it. The slots, which occupy most of the gaming floor, are awful. Variety is not the best, the best games are not here and payouts are worse. California really dropped the ball on this one, not regulating the slots or requiring the casinos to be accountable for them by posting payout percentages and it really shows, these machines could be set for 5% or 85% payout and it would suit the state just fine. There are NO minimum payout percentages. Who else runs a business in this fashion?? I have been here eight times and have yet to see anyone win anything substantial. Changing this law and adding a place to stay for players who are weary after a day's play would probably make this a first class venue. In summary it's a nice break for a day but for real gaming action, keep heading east to Nevada.
Tight slots
Nice place, good buffet, service is alright but the slots are very tight, I have stopped there a few times and every time I have had the same bad experience with slots, they're simply too tight. I think I'd rather drive a few miles NW to the B casino, at least they advertise their many monthly jackpot winners, haven't yet won there either but my money lasted much longer so I had more fun.
I may still stop at Viejas to eat at the buffet, go shopping at the outlets but never to play slots again.
Good Slots
Vejas was a nice place to play. I liked some of the progressive games that included 25 cent video poker. You bet $2.00 per hand and win $14 for a full house and $10 for a flush (equivalent to a 7/5 game), but a royal flush pays in the $2500 to $4000 range which makes it worth it and an exciting game. The progressive could also be won on Keno and other games. They also had a nice bonus 4 of a kind video poker machine where you could win a $200 to $3999 bonus on a four of a kind. There is a large non-smoking area that has a lot of machines to play. The buffet I had was only $7.95 with a players card, but food on that particular buffet was only average. On some days you get double or triple points (Thursdays were double points when I played).
The Best
The Best!
Huge casino, nice,
Well, Viejas Casino has a very delicious buffet, one of the best in my opinion.....delicious crab legs...etc.
There is a random jackpot in a couple of machines in one of the main entrances ....but for me slots machines are tight ....i have never won something medium or big....in Viejas.
The view during the driving to get there from San Diego is nice.
The Casino is huge, and sometimes at the begining i got lost lol....
if you want a beer....good luck .....i really don´t remember to buy a beer there because is to huge that i just got tired triying to find it...viejas Casino is a Labyrinth.....
In my first times playing in Viejas i remember ....i won just a couple of bucks...sometime...you know, $40 , $50...etc.....my last times over there.....0 zero, nothing.....
the casino has a nice outlet plaza in front of it, ...so you can go and walk....eat something etc...
The atmosphere inside the casino is warm, lights are nice and warm.....
In my opinion Viejas Casino is to play a little while on slots machines, go to the outlet plaza, go to the delicious buffet, walk around, drink a beer, a coffee , etc...i mean is to have a good time....while you are playing a 1Cent machine with 20 lines,,,,no more...Lol
oh by the way, customer service is good.
Bingo
I went to play Bingo. Mind you, I've never played at Casinos, only at home, where you usually get 1-3 cards, and use pegs. When I went, the buy ins are real confusing. I did not use a computer, but instead paper. I had NO IDEA what type of game was being played, what sheet to use, no where to find instructions, no one to help (if they do they're in a hurry and act like you're supposed to know). A lot of regulars go, so maybe it's just learn as you go along while throwing your money away. There's always a catch. It could be fun, but I felt like a total idiot. Very frustrating for a new person.
Nice place
A nice place to play. Good buffet at a very reasonable price.
Absolute MONEY PIT!
Quite possibly the WORST slot machine odds in California. Do yourself a favor and avoid this casino. Take your money to Barona, or Vegas.
With the money you will lose, you can pay for the round trip fare on Southwest to get to Vegas. Viejas is absolutely pathetic!
