Tropicana in Atlantic City Fined For Allowing 14-year-old to gamble
Thursday, 26 January 2012 08:10

Tropicana Casino & Resort in Atlantic City has been fined $27,500 by state casino regulators for allowing a 14-year-old to gamble in the casino, as well as violating the rules of a card game.

The $17,500 underage gambling fine goes back to last summer, when the 14-year-old boy was caught playing the casino's slot machines. Investigators saw the boy playing machines at 11:20pm on August 12 and observed a security guard pass by and do nothing.

Investigators asked the boy to show identification and found that he was 14. He was detained and later turned over to his parents.

The legal gambling age in New Jersey is 21.

The other fine, which cost the the casino and additional $10,000, was for not removing all the "10" cards from decks used for Spanish 21, thus violating the rules.
