Between its beach-themed décor and luxurious pool areas, The Tropicana offers visitors a South Beach escape in the heart of the Vegas Strip. This historic Vegas landmark opened in 1957 and can be seen in the Elvis Presley film Viva Las Vegas as well as the James Bond classic Diamonds are Forever.

The property is currently in the midst of a $180 million makeover, during which they will be rebranding themselves as a South Beach themed casino. They have remodeled all the rooms, added new Latin and tropical themed restaurants and will be totally revamping the pool area as well as adding a nightclub.

The Tropicana has 1,877 rooms and 115 suites, including 2-story apartment style penthouse lofts. The basic rooms start at around $50 and include: in-room safe, iron and ironing board and hair dryer. High speed internet is available for an additional fee. Hotel amenities include: one of the best pool areas in Las Vegas, wedding chapel, fitness center, salon, and currency exchange. The hotel charges a daily resort fee of $9.99.

In spring 2011, the Tropicana will be unveiling “Nikki Beach Club,” the resort’s very own version of the Miami hotspot. The newly remodeled pool area will include lounge chairs, private cabanas, a bar and restaurant, swim-up blackjack and live music.

When it comes to dining, the Tropicana has a wide assortment of restaurants including Biscayne Steak, Sea and Wine, Bacio Pasta and Vino for Italian cuisine, South Beach Café and Deli for American fare and starting in November 2010, Café Nikki will start serving up various international favorites.

The casino offers the classic table games such as roulette, craps and blackjack as well as three card poker, let it ride and Pai Gow poker, plus a remodeled race/sports book is set to open in late 2010.
