May Gambling Podcast - Win a FREE Gambling Book from the Gambler's Book Shop in Las Vegas: The American Casino Guide has a monthly podcast hosted by the book's author, Steve Bourie, who talks about topics of interest to travelers who like to visit casinos and during the course of each show he  interviews a special guest from the world of casino travel or gambling.

Flamingo Las Vegas : Announced Donny and Marie Osmond as the resort’s newest headliner in the Flamingo Showroom.  Beginning Sept. 9, the duo will dazzle audiences of all ages with their iconic style of entertainment.  The 90-minute extravaganza will highlight Donny & Marie’s greatest hits in a multimedia spectacle presented on a custom designed stage with multiple video screens and a large cast of dancers. This will mark the first time in 29 years that they will have performed an extended residency engagement in Las Vegas. Sahara: In honor of National Tourism Week, May 10-18, the Sahara Hotel & Casino is offering the opportunity for hotel guests to win an instant upgrade to one of the Sahara’s most requested and famous classic penthouse suites – The Beatles Suite, where the Fab Four stayed in 1964 or The Presidential Suite, which has hosted such luminaries as The King himself, Elvis Presley.  During the months of May through August, a total of four lucky winners, one for each month, will be selected at random and informed of their instant upgrade upon check-in.  The inaugural winner will be randomly selected during National Tourism Week.

Coast Casinos: Mega Bingo. Suncoast, Gold Coast and Sam’s Town will all combine forces to offer a $500,000 Mega Bingo event to be held over two days, Monday, May 19 and Tuesday, May 20. The doors will open at 8:00 a.m. both days with Warm-Up games beginning at 11:30 a.m. and the Mega Games will start at 12:30 p.m. The $345 entry fee pays for both days and each player receives one 9-on pack. Ellis Island: Players can now earn Magic Key Scratch Cards for a chance to win up to $400,000. Each card has 25 scratch areas and customers will be instructed to scratch off only six of those spots.  If each of the six spots reveals a key symbol, the card is a cash winner. The dollar value of the card is determined by scratching off the bottom "prize value" space on the card.  Other cash prizes include $40,000 and $4,000 and other smaller amounts. Ellis Island Casino : Celebrating its 40th Anniversary this year, now offering 40X (forty) points on select machines, including some video poker machines. They are also offering 6X points (on selected machines) every Sunday & Tuesday, in addition to their standard 5X points every Friday.  Promotion will continue indefinitely, or until further notice. Hacienda: The 2008 American Casino Guide is available for sale in the gift shop. The book retails for $16.95. Customers may purchase books with slot club points.

Fiestas (Rancho and Henderson) : Friday Hoops Contest every Friday throughout the NBA season paying $500 to the winner (against the contest line for Friday's games). Second place will receive $250, third place $150 and the fourth winner will get a $100 dining coupon. Both properties combine to give one set of prizes and all bets must be made on Friday to be eligible.

Arizona Charlie's Boulder/Decatur: Both launched a new program that reimburses new slot club members’ losses up to $100 on their first day of play when they sign up for a new A.C.E. Rewards card. The “100 Reasons to Join and Play” acquisition program allows new members to receive up to $100 in slot play on their first day. #71507

Arizona Charlie's Boulder : Offering weekly Blackjack Tournaments on Thursdays with added money known as the "Winner's Rollover Purse."  Each week Arizona Charlie's Boulder will add $100 to the "Winner's Rollover Purse." Players must qualify through play on their Ultimate Rewards Club card in order to be eligible to win the Purse. Players will be able to qualify each Thursday by playing slots and earning a minimum of 100 Action Cash points or live blackjack for two hours at a $5 minimum bet. Once the player is qualified, they will be eligible to win the "Winner's Rollover Purse." That means if they win the tournament, they will win both the daily purse and the "Winner's Rollover Purse." If the winner does not qualify for the Purse, the $100 rolls over until the next week. California: A sort of "nice touch" when you hit a royal flush or top slot jackpot, the California Hotel will take a polaroid photo of you with your "lucky" machine as a souvinir gift and present it to you in a little display card.  They will also include the photo in their monthly newsletter.  They almost always give some little "extra" gift when you hit the jackpot, too, like a t-shirt, stuffed animal or beanie baby. #12314

Casino Royale: Changed its Players Club from a coin-out system to coin-in. Reel and video slots earn one point for every $3.00 coin-in and video poker requires $6.00 coin-in to earn a point. 100 points = $1.00 in cash-back for a return of .33% cash back for slots and .17% for video poker. A minimum of 1,000 points is required for cash back redemption and must be claimed within 48 hours of earning the points. #31906

Circus Circus : In Septmeber 2007 they started a new player’s club called, Circus Player’s Club. They are not part of the multi-property MGM/Mirage Player’s Club. The new club offers its members $5 cash back or $10 in free slot play for every 200 points earned on your account. It takes $5 to earn one point on slots and $10 to earn one point on video poker, video blackjack and video keno. Earn 5000 points in a calendar year and receive an extra $50 in free slot play. Club Fortune (Henderson): Expanded its gaming floor to include table games, live poker and a 150-seat bingo room. Bingo is played at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, and at 1:00, 3:00, 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. El Cortez: Complimentary video poker classes are taught by expert Bob Dancer. The sessions take place every Wednesday, with beginner-level classes scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and intermediate-level classes from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Classes are FREE subject to seating capacity, but you can reserve a space by visiting Jackie's Club Cortez every Wednesday when the classes start beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Ellis Island: Price increase on its famous $4.95 not-on-the-menu Steak Dinner special.  Ellis Island has held the line for years on this great special, but has finally upped the price to $6.99.  The meal now includes an Ellis Island draft beer, easily worth a buck or two more anyway.  As always, the dinner remains the same including a 10-ounce filet-cut steak, salad, vegetable, potato and dinner rolls.  It is not on the menu.
