I live less than 30 minutes from Gun Lake and will never go there again. Slots are tighter than any I have ever played and you get nothing for free slot play or promotions. Maybe if enough of us get fed up and stop going they will learn how to treat their customers right!!!!!!!

We have been to this casino 25-30 times sine it opened and the slot payouts are always the same. Unless you hit a jackpot, (which I question some of them that are announced) you will never leave there with any of their money!! They want a hotel and a bigger casino and want the patrons to pay for 110% of it, and then some. We decided to give up on the place and head back to Traverse City. It's well worth the gas money up there,or any where else for that matter.

I'd been hoping for this Casino to get the go ahead and open for over ten years since it's in my home area. Now that it's open I'd have to tell my friends to avoid going since the payouts are so bad and table limits are high. It's not uncommon to go through $500 in a couple hours without playing anything bigger than quarters! If they get the least bit busy on the tables even during a week day, they raise the minimums to $10 or higher. Some times it looks like they would rather have people waiting to play a $5 table while the other higher minimum tables set empty. Makes no sense to me at all. I think the sooner the "Station Casinos" management team is gone the better off GLC will be. This is Wayland Mi., not Vegas! The players club is the biggest joke of all. If you go 2-3 days per week and spend 4-6 hrs. per day playing you will get a whopping 5-10 dollars per week of free play which will last all of 2-3 mins. Same on your Birthday..........maybe a free cookie all the way up to 3X points. BIG DEAL!!!! If your within 1.5 hours of any other Casino in Mi. do yourself a favor and avoid Gun Lake until they change their attitude about how much to payout and how to treat their loyal guests!!

The slots at Gun Lake Casino t-i-g-h-t! I understand a casino is in the business to make money and it is our choice on whether or not to visit but it's sad when one isn't even enjoying themselves when they lose hundreds of dollars! It would be one thing if the slots paid out some small winnings but it was not uncommon for me to put a $100 in and not receive anything over a $5.00 hit in return. It's just a matter of time before word starts spreading and the masses eventually skip this casino. The novelty of the "new-ish" casino quickly wore off and I would only recommend going if you have $500 or so in your pocket to throw away in a couple hours!

Too tight for me, I live close and keep telling myself the odds on the slots can't be this bad. But they are, out of 15 visits in the past year I think i left money ahead 2 times. I plan on losing $100 per hr on slots even betting cautiously, just seems to be the average for me. I won't be back. I don't mind paying for entertainment but it's just not worth $100 an hour.

I have been playing at Gun Lake Casino since they opened last year! Let's just say I won't be going there anymore! Not bc I lost and I'm a whiney loser but bc I don't feel like I'm getting fair play. I play blackjack and slots if I win. They have a crazy rule that u can't split aces more than once which happened to lose me about $100 on one hand. But that is not why I'm writing this review. I am writing this review bc I have put several thousand dollars thru their slot machines and I have decided that they r the tightest machines I have ever played...u almost have to force them to pay by dumping hundreds into them...which doesn't always work out so well. Their free play for slots sucks. I played a similar amount at 4 winds in new buffalo, mi and received at least $300 to $400 in free slot play plus a couple free nights at the hotel. At Gun Lake Casino I received about $100 total in free slot play and a voucher for $40 for food which was only good for one day. Bottom line, avoid this casino if at all possible. Give ur money to someone in need instead! They didn't make over $100 million the first year in business by paying people that walk thru the door. So remember that before u take too much cash in that place. Not to mention its small, dealers suck (but have improved since opening), it's smoky as hell (and I'm a smoker), and busy as hell on weekends. Oh they also raise their table games minimum bet to $15 for bj on Friday and sat. Night...and that's only 2 tables..the rest are $25 minimum and up...just go somewhere else that is at least being watched by a gaming commission! Learn from me please and don't make the same mistake!

... We live only 10 miles from the Gun Lake Casino, so we have been there several times! I have TWO WORDS for this Casino "IT SUCKS!"... We too would rather drive farther for a better time.
Each time we have been 'hosed'... they could care less if you have a bad gaming experience. YOU WILL NOT even get a little 'play money' back! We have tried almost every Casino in Michigan and have to say the place smells bad... because the ventilation system is horrid. The moment you walk in the lobby door, the odor is noticeable. You may as well save your money for a Casino 'watched' by a gaming commission.
I do have ONE nice thing to say about this Casino... The Coffee is VERY GOOD! Grab one on your way out the door and call it your 'hundreds of dollars' cup of java! That is ALL this Casino will give YOU!

We used to go quite often to Gub Lake Casino but the payouts on slot machines are very poor. Last month I had 280 free spins on a 45 cent penny machine and half way thru I got another 8 spins for a grand total of 288 free spins, the outcome, $36.40. And, this is not the first time this event has happened to me here, we are going to eat the gas bill and head to Four Wins or Little River. I don't play cards so I can't comment on that, the rest of the casino seems okay except for the slot payouts, and I might add, I only live 8 miles from the place.

Because Gun Lake is only 35 min from my house I was naturally drawn there. However it has turned out that the 8-10 trips to this casino has totally caused me to want to give up gaming entirely! I had the fortunate(or perhaps unfortunate) opportunity to win a $450 and $250 jackpot there plus a few smaller amounts but I have succeeded in losing all of that and much more in my pursuit of that life changing jackpot at this casino! I have never been to a casino that has so little to offer. I concur with the other reviewers the smoke is atrocious and the amenities are lacking. Food is pretty sad and limited. Because I have seen a few people win here I think it could happen to me! Ha not over the long run. I am constantly walking the floor looking for a machine that might pay. I go back to the machines I have played before and they appear to be different machines...tighter and no fun what so ever. I just had a really bad session this week here and I must vow to never return before I lose any more money that I can't afford to lose. I just returned from Las Vegas too and had a couple of nice wins there...I don't ask for much would be happy to break even and just play on my winnings. Well I have to face the facts...it will never happen at Gun Lake casino. Why is it so busy? I don't get it! And during their giveaways it is impossible to find a decent machine!

I look forward to not beating myself up on the return drive home from this casino ever again!!

I will never go back. It took too long to get blackjack tables then the dealer ripped me off. I placed a $40 bet and pointed to hit me. The dealer skipped i said hit me, he said no you didn't. Oh yes i did and of course he pulled a 5 which on my 2nd hit that would had been a 21 the 5 gave him 17. Then, the visit before that, i was up $350 i cashed in my chips and ended up getting $17. i was a bit tipsy and it was obvious i was told the remaining was on my players card of coarse it was not this place will steal from you I have never returned and will never go back again....

Gun Lake Casino offers as much of a variety as possible with their slot machines. Table games are very limited and there are no $5 blackjack tables. Players must wager higher denominations, even if just learning how to play. Customer service was very good, the best experience we had there was how nice the team members were and offered to cash tickets where we were sitting, instead of looking for a cashier or kiosk. The players club seemed to be the biggest joke. The people seemed very fake and unhappy. You must earn 5,000 pts (play $5,000) give/take to get only $5 in rewards or free play? There is no privacy for high rollers, I noticed "stalkers" watching the high limit players. There is NO hotel. The nearest location is at least 10-15 minutes away. The food wasn't great, but it wasn't bad. The prices were good for the amount of food and quality of food we received. I was very disappointed with our visit, and we will not be traveling another two hour drive to visit here again. Also, the slot machines are very tight. We ended up leaving short over $470 after starting with $500.

I have been here quite a few times. I live close and I have never been to a worse casino. Bonuses are almost impossible to get, then if you do get lucky to get a bonus, you don't win more than a dollar or two. If you're planning on going to this casino plan on losing everything you bring in a very short time. I will not be back and hope this will save you some money too. Go to any other casino, you have a way better chance there.

After reading many bad reviews I was hesitant to go to Gun Lake. Here's my review. PROS- Customer service is great, the entire staff was friendly and available. The food was what I expected, pretty good. The casino is small but still has a decent slot selection. Everything is clean and nice looking., Not smoky at all. Table games are good, dealers are great. Drinks aren't overpriced. CONS - I can see how this casino would be very crowded on weekends. Their player's card is a joke. The slots DO NOT PAY OUT. Very stingy. I'm ok with losing money as long as I can play for awhile. Not here! You lose lose and lose. I talked with a few other patrons and this seemed the norm for Gun Lake.

I called the Gun Lake Casino and spoke to a Security Person a week before we were going there with our Motor Home and asked about overnight RV Parking. He said it was allowed and explained to me where we should park. While our RV was being serviced in Grand Rapids, we drove our Jeep to the Casino and verified with the Security Person at the door where we should park our Motor Home for staying overnight. She went outside with us and pointed to the area for RV Parking. Two days later, when we arrived with our Motor Home, we parked in the area where the two different Security Personal had told us to park for the night. Shortly after parking there a Security Person came to our door and told us we needed to park in a lot by a building across the street for overnight parking. After following him and pulling into the lot he stopped and said he was just informed by his boss that they do not allow any overnight RV Parking. After quite a discussion about the situation and being told we could not park overnight, we left. While on the way home, I called the Security Supervisor, who was quite rude. He said they have a policy for no overnight RV Parking and there was no changing his mind. Evidently this was never told to the Security Personal that deal with the public since we dealt with 3 who were not aware of this policy. This was a Thursday and the regular parking lot wasn't even 25% full. Needless to say, we do not plan to patronize the Gun Lake Casino again. Also, the slot machines are very tight. Several people had mentioned that.

Upon my visit I found the casino too small, the machine were placed too close to the tables. The food was like eating at a fast food joint, nothing fancy at all. It was very smoky, like playing and eating in an ashtray.
The slots were most stingiest I have ever played, and you have to wait quite awhile just to get a seat at a card table.
Considering other places in the area, I'd rather spend my money and time at Firekeepers.

I have visited Gun Lake twice now and both times I was extremely disappointed in how stingy EVERY machine in the place was. I play all over the country {literally} and am an admitted gambleaholic. I bet everything from the penny slots to the $100 machines when I go into a Casino just so I can get a fair idea of how the place plays and pays. There were no $100 machines at Gun Lake but there were several that you could spin $25 at a clip of two coins as well as one machine that you could spin 9 credits at $10 per credit= $90 per spin. I played those for awhile as well as every possible denomination down to pennies and they all were consistent in their lack of payout. I did hit one jackpot for $1200 on a $5 machine while betting 3 credits a spin = $15 that was gone again in less than an hour. At most Casinos you WILL lose your money in the slots but they will kick a little back now and then to keep it fun. NOT AT GUN LAKE THOUGH. I bet at every end of the spectrum and they just kept robbing me straight away with a VERY rare small kickback. Even if/when you got a bonus on a game it often paid back less than the amount you wagered for a single spin. I used to think Soaring Eagle was the tightest followed by FireKeepers but now there is a new King of stingy and it goes by the name of Gun Lake Casino. This place will honestly NOT last because of this and the reviews it is getting online. There is too much competition nearby for people to go where they lose all their money fast. I spoke with several people in the Casino as I do at all that I go to because I want to know if others are having the same experience I am or if it's just my bad luck. The people at this Casino ALL said they felt it was MUCH worse than FireKeepers and Soaring Eagle too and many said they would not be back. This review is not coming from a guy who is a sore luck loser who got broke at the place. I'm just an honest player that wants others to hear an honest review. My opinion is if you can go elsewhere, I'd strongly recommend it because your money will NOT last as long at Gun Lake. If you're like me, you don't mind losing it but you'd like to have some fun along the way. You won't experience that at Gun Lake.

I WOULD RATHER DRIVE 2 HOURS TO SOARING EAGLE THEN GO TO GUNLAKE THATS 10 MINUTES FROM MY HOUSE, THEY ARE STEALING MONEY FROM PEOPLE. EVEN WHEN YOU GET A BONUS ROUND, BETTING MAX BET, YOU ONLY GET UP TO 10 DOLLARS IN A BONUS ROUND. COME ON GUNLAKE!!!!! I WOULD SUGGEST NOT TO GO THERE, YOUR GONNA WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY, MAKE THE EXTRA TRIP AND VISIT FIREKEEPERS OR SOARING EAGLE. BECAUSE I KNOW I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO GUNLAKE.

I have been to this new casino about 20 times thinking that it would pay out but NOTHING. I cannot believe how tight this casino is. They have already paid their taxes and are 66 million richer in just 3 months. That says alot. I usually go in the morning with about $100 and it is gone in about 45 minutes and I play video poker. I am done going to this casino and have started going back to firekeepers which is starting to pay out alot more. Dont waste your time at this casino.

Ive only been to Gun Lake Casino one time and wont rush to go back. They bragged before opening about having the newest and greatest air filtration system installed. Wrong ! I returned home smelling like an ashtray. I had dinner at the restaurant since it was my first time going there. You would think a casino would offer low prices on food to entice gamblers to show up. Nope. For a burger, fries, and drink expect to pay $10. No low prices on the menu like I was hoping for.

It was hard to enjoy the slots with an older guy smoking a stinky cigar right beside me. Where was the air filtration ? Apparently not strong enough. The casino is so small that a no smoking section wouldn't work, since the smoke would just fill up the entire gaming floor including any nonsmoking section. At least Soaring Eagle has a non smoking section so the smell isn't as bad.

It didn't take long for me to spend all of my money on the slots and walk away empty handed. The last time I went with a friend to Soaring Eagle I won $8 on slots (better than losing it all) and my friend won $200. I will go back to Soaring Eagle before Gun Lake even if it is twice as far away for me.

My wife and I met up with some friends to try the Gun Lake Casino on Saturday, April 2, to try our luck and enjoy some music. We arrived around 7:30 pm and did some wandering around before enjoying a quick meal at the food court. Afterwards, some of us parted ways to try our luck at various parts on the floor. Most of the women went off to play slot machines while I waited for an opening at the only $5 minimum bid black jack table open. I’m not much of a gambler but was willing to have some fun at the lowest cost possible. I waited patiently for over an hour before a spot finally opened up. A middle aged, petite woman was standing next to me and had been waiting longer so I did not bat an eye when she went for the seat first. As soon as she sat down an older gentleman appeared and literally tried to push her out of her seat saying he had been waiting longer than her. The woman stood her ground and he began shouting and pushing before other people there (including myself) tried to intervene and tell him to wait his turn. There was a “supervisor” behind the table, named Robert, which eventually coaxed the man to the side and discussed it with him. Eventually you could see them laughing and calming down off to the side so I continued watching the table. Soon after another chair opened right in front of me and I wasted no time taking his place and threw some cash down for chips. Again the older gentleman made a scene and tried to push me out of my seat. Everyone at the table was trying to tell him that I had been waiting longer and he needed to wait his turn. Robert, again, pulled the man aside to talk to him. I played about 4-5 hands and could quickly tell the dealer was struggling with her math. One play, I stayed on a 15 and the dealer flipped 18. When she was making her rounds I stated that I had 15 to help her out and she said we pushed (had the same amount). The lady next to me asked what I had and I told her a 15, she just laughed. The man on the other side of me said I should sleep well tonight because he even heard me say I had a 15. A couple hands later the dealer flipped an 18 and hit again to bust. This is an obvious no-no for any dealer and Robert was standing behind her when she did it and quickly flipped the last card over. This obviously brought an uproar to the table and Robert quickly vanished for a few hands when players asked for an explanation. The argument was that we as players can’t take back a card, so why should the dealer be able to? We continued playing and I noticed the dealer was continuing to struggle, I even noticed her counting on her fingers to add up her total! Anyway, shortly after things calmed down again, Robert grabbed me by the arm and asked me to step aside to talk. I asked if I could pull my bet and he said, “Just come with me a minute.” He asked me to step away from the table so the older gentleman could play. I clearly said no and that I was not ready to stop. Robert then said that he had 3 people tell him that he was waiting longer than me which was immediately followed up by others at the table saying absolutely not. I told him I was staying and Robert then grabbed me tighter by the arm and asked me again to leave. I asked, “What if I don’t” at which he said “You don’t want to go there.” I shook off his grip and he said he would have me removed from the building if I did not comply. Puzzled and angry I grabbed my chips and asked to speak to his manager. He went off and I stood for another hour waiting. I then grabbed a pen and napkin from the bar and asked him to write down his first name and employee number. He took the pen and paper, went to the desk in the middle, and returned to tell me that his manager said he can not give that info out. “Hello! It’s on your name tag!” I told him and wrote it down myself. By now it was nearing midnight and my party was ready to leave. I again asked to speak with his manager at which point, Robert, disappeared. I talked to another “supervisor” there named Nathan that was very understanding of the situation and said this needed to be brought up with his manager. He said he would go get him but by now my party was at the door and I knew I needed to go. On my way out I ran into the lady from the table who also mentioned she was going to put in a complaint. I put one in immediately the next day through their website and asked repeatedly to be contacted, with no reply.

I heard the band that night was a riot (although I missed it dealing with this mess), the food was OK, it was definitely smoky, but most of the staff was unprofessional and didn’t know what they were doing. My word of advice: If you go use caution, but there is plenty of other casinos nearby that seem to have higher standards.

I've been to gunlake 3 times so far. Every time the place was packed full. I had to walk around forever before i found a slot game that was open. After waiting 10-15 min for a slot machine i sat down put $10 in a penny machine and won $134 off 60 cents. That was nice, but the other 2 times i went the most i won was $10. I lost my money quickly it wasn't fun. I'll probably go back sometime but not anytime soon!!

We have been there three times. Looked for one of those $5.00 Tables and after 4pm there is one with six or seven players and several standing in back for a seat. I find the advertising very false and have told several people what i think. Those that have been there agree with me and we all find it very loud and smokey. After reading comments on line i think that i am not the only one with that opinion. Many of the dealers had no idea of how to play 3 card poker and they were dealing..

I went into the casino after they had been open for a month, and I couldn't believe how much smoke was EVERYWHERE! The floor of the casino is large, but the machines are packed in like sardines, and less than 10 percent of the slots were real wheel turning slots. The other 90 percent of the slots were all digital, which doesn't do anything for me. The biggest complaint is all the smoke that permeates everyone and everything in the place. The food court is set up like a mall, with one business right next to another with no divider or separation between them looked good. The bad thing is that all this food is not separated from the gaming floor by any walls or windows, so all that smoke just sits on the food waiting for you to ingest. After an hour there I had to leave due to my eyes watering and I couldn't take all the smoke. I would suggest getting clear glass walls to separate the food from the gaming area, and invest in some better air handlers as the ones they currently have are nowhere near the power necessary to move all that dirty air out of there.

Gun Lake Casino needs air handlers
