not owning up to its slogan of +the most winning"
Are you kidding me - you claim to be the "more winnners more often" casino! Again are you kidding me, I have been frequenting this same casino for the past 8 yrs, and until they changed/upgraded the establishment i was happy w/the casino slots/serivce. But since all this changed within the last 3-4 yrs, especially in the last 1 yr the casino has went tremendously downhill. I stopped in there on the day before thanksgiving (23 nov 2011), just to be able to be among people (and I had nowhere to go for thanksgiving) I as usual spent at least $1,000 as I usually spend on paydays, and the machines did not pay out anything, I only got to play for a little over 2 hrs. I never see a full crowd at the machines anymore, nor at least someone yelling that they were a winner. It is hard for some of us seniors/younger personnel that have no transportation but the bus, and it is very difficult to take a bus to other locations as I live near the I-5 casino, but for everyone we would like to see the slot machines have a better/more payoff as your slogan. I can tolerate the smoke and the personnel that clean/service/waitresses the casino that have nothing to do but stand behind you and watch you (makes me nervous). Please read our emails and reconsider letting there be more winners!!!!
Thank you!
bad experience
Five of us would go on Sundays and play at eqc, stay for two hours win or lose and get the $20 food comp.
Never again will I go through the doors of that casino. We all played and lost about five hundred dollars ( not complaining it's a casino after all) but when we got together to get our comp the staff gave us a hard time about the comp (apparently if you need to take a pee or answer your cell phone you get a lecture) about not playing for two hours continuously. They will give you the comp but only after talking to you like a child. We did not take the comp. No thank you! jerks. Other casinos are better. You just use The players club card to get food and comp and no worries about the eqc mafia. Bite me eqc. You lost Five good customers!
TIghtess slot machines in WA....
WOW...the slots are sooo tight. I can't even win anything after spending nearly a thousand dollars in one night....less another night. Come on now....if you wanna lose my business than I got no other choice but to go to other casinos...hey. It's okay I got the money but I know as hell EQC will not get my money.....
no payout slots
Does not the management or staff read the reviews - this is outrageous. I-5 EMQC claims to be one of the high/mostpay out casino, but we feel that this has been untrue for at least the last year and a half. We used to enjoy coming to the I-5 casino to play the slots of which we spend several hundred, but in the past year or so we have noticed that the slots are "so tight" that you probably couldn't break the "tightness" with a chisel. Of all the money that is spent you would assume that this casino would stand up to it claiming to be "the most high payout" casino. We can fight thru the smoke, waitresses/cleanup personnel passing you by or just standing behind you watching you play, but we are hard working or retired people that have worked all our lives to be able to enjoy relaxation and enjoyment, and to be able to go and win so that we can afford to come back another time or even to spend some winnings to buy a good drink or be able to tip the waitresses. To win and enjoy a casino is what a casino is all about, not to go home EVERYTIME disappointed and not having a great time. The reason that we don't go to other casinos, is I-5 is closer to home, if we could afford a drink or 2, we would be able to take a taxi home, and also transportation isn't that reliable for all. Please read this and give us a chance to win, and in the long run you will have more customers coming back, and of the $$ that we spend you will still be able to pay for the establishment/construction.
Service from bad to worse
We have been going to EQC in Fife for about 6 months. The service overall was very poor but felt we could live with it. Well today, that all changed. One of their workers left the door wide open in non-smoking so a breeze came through. It was very cold and drafty sitting at our machine and at $$$ per hour, absolutely no fun. So, when this woman walked by...we asked that she close the door please as it was drafty. She proceeded to ignore us and keep walking. Thinking that perhaps she had not heard us because of the machines, etc. we asked again. She then started yelling and stomped off mumbling something under her breath. We all kind of laughed and kept playing. There were many people around besides my husband and myself who witnessed this. A few minutes later, a massive security guard came over with the employee behind him. She yelled...there they are and pointed at us. She went on to say that we had "cussed her" (which we absolutely did not) and she wanted us REMOVED from the casino NOW. She kept yelling and not letting us get a word in. She also refused to tell us her name. Finally the security guard called on his radio and said to us...a manager is coming to straighten this out. When the manager arrived, he took the security guard and the employee out into the main area and talked with them for about 5 minutes. He then came back and said that we could fill out a complaint form, if we wanted. Never got an apology or anything else. We did fill out the complaint form along with two other people who witnessed the whole thing. The manager then proceeds to WARN US that if we approach employees in that fashion (asking them to close the door??), we can be banned from the casino. Really? We are now saving our money for Las Vegas. No, EQC does not give a good return for their money. The only up side was that I walked out after doubling my money today (also a rare occurrence).
slot winnings
I, along with a lot of my friends in the Tacoma, WA area, used to enjoy coming here to play the slots due to it being close, the servers/cashiers/restaurants were friendly. Not all the time but a lot we used to break even or win something, or as we know that it is our choice and the chance we take when we frequent this establishment we would go home broke. Since about Aug 2010 until now Jan 2011, we have noticed that there has been a MAJOR decrease in the winnings and patrons. I don't mean only big winnings but also no winnings at all. As I stated before it is our choice and and the risk of a win/loss but there is no enjoyment there any more, and I have noticed the decrease of customers coming to this establishment as they have indicated that they would rather go where they can win sometime. Also, have noticed that the servers/cashiers are not so friendly anymore, thy stand around behind you and watch you play, food quality/quantity isn't as much ( know economy), but we spend a lot, and I do mean a lot of money. Therefore, we think that in order to keep customers coming back you should loosen the slot machines and pay out more. Believe us you will come out in the end to pay for all the establishment, etc. Please we do love this place but don't want to lose all our money all the time as we have been doing. We are also hard working people and enjoy our entertainment, whether it be staying at home or going to a casino that we can enjoy.
Slot players beware...
I used to play the Clearwater and the Fife EQC quite a bit. I noticed that both casinos had very tight slots, and that there is a direct correlation between what construction project has to be paid for and the number of staff working inside a mostly empty casino. So I headed over to the EQC I-5, noting its dingy atmosphere and lack of staff (except for the HUGE security detachment--which is truly necessary at this casino). For a while, the machines were paying out better than most in the area, especially at the right times of the day or night. So at least you had a shot at breaking even, and with the 25.00 food comp for two hours play, made for a decent gaming experience. Since early December 2010, I have noticed a real tightening up on the machines, and it may have a lot to do with the "new" non smoking section renovation. BTW, don't bother with it. It's mostly obsolete machines in a smoke free extension of the same massive gaming hall we've all grown accustomed to walking in endlessly looking for a machine that takes less than 40.00/hour on quarter bets. I've seen a lot more of the signs of a tight casino lately--such as people nodding their heads in disgust with the "bonus" that paid for about 1/4 of the trouble it took to get it.
I know EQC wasn't designed as an ATM machine for the non-tribal masses, but guys--lighten up--you'll get it all back anyway.
slot machines
I want to first say that although I know that it is I who chooses to walk thru that front door of the casino, take the chance and spend my money on the slot machines of which I have so much fun. I at times spend quite a bit of money, but a lot of the time, it is noted by many of us that the slots pay for a short period of time, and then do not pay out anything. Your ads claim to be one of the most paying slots, but it takes more than I put in. I will continue coming to I-5 EQC, as I enjoy playing the many different slots that you offer, the service is outstanding and it is close to my home, but maybe your establishment could relax on the machines a little and let the customers who do spend a lot of money win something. I love playing the "Quick Hit" of which I just started playing, Copper Dropper and Good Cents.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and have a "Sunshiny" Day.
slots
My wife and I both love this casino over all others. We both have great fun and at times we win. The food is great.
Emerald Queen-I5
The food in the main restaurant is great as is the customer service. Lots of parking but they really need to build a parking garage. If you do not smoke, this may not be the place for you to gamble. Very small non-smoking area with mostly old machines. The ceilings are low so you get hit with the stench of cigarette smoke as soon as you walk in. The Muckleshoot has an entire building just for non-smokers.
We see the casinos
The place is very smokey. The ceiling is so low I felt like I wanetd to duck down all the time. Not sure I'd ever go back there.
least pleasant of all indian casinos in Washington
This place is so crowded with old machines it is not pleasant during the lightest of times. It is smokey, dirty, lacking in service, has no tracking available in the slots area, comps must be eaten totally within the resturant, no, doggy bags.
Attitudes (bad) seem to reign supreme. while there are many handicapped parking spaces, most are at the farthest part from most of the casino. Valet parking is only convienent for the showroom and lounge. For casino they are at the opposite end of the casino and a considerable walk down and up a ramp to the gaming areas and table games. It is not a friendly place for persons with physical handicaps.
EQC- OK
I don't think I have eaten at EQC, but we used to go to the boat when my sister's in-laws were in town.
There was a Haywire machine by the cashier that I could always win on. I'd put in $20 and walk out with anywhere from $60 to $300 everytime. Depending on how brave I was to keep playing once I started winning.
Casino at I-5 is VERY smokey.
Did go for a Johnny Lang concert, thought the tickets were reasonable and the concert was great. Concert venue was not fancy by any stretch of the imagination.
Prefered not to play here since no players club, but now that has changed, I might have to give them a try again. Still, I hate that they are so smokey. Darn.
Please disregard my ratings for table games, customer service, player's club, ammenities and food and drink. I was required to rate these even though I haven't used them.
A large casino without much to offer
This is close to being the 2nd biggest casino in Washington State (Tulalip might be about the same size). This casino is also only as big as it is because it is located darn near the middle of Tacoma right off the highway. Unfortunately, there is not much of a reason to play here.
The blackjack game has lousy rules (8-decks, dealer hits soft 17, no double after split, no surrender, no resplit aces).
DO NOT PLAY VIDEO POKER in WA. Or at least realize you are not really playing video poker, but rather a slot machine that is disguised to look like video poker.
The payoffs on the machines are truly random and not dependent on your skill in holding the correct cards. See the WA State Gaming website for more info.
The restaurant was unimpressive when I ate there. I had copper river salmon in season which is supposed to be a delicacy, but I was not impressed with the preparation or quality.
This casino doesn't even have a poker room. They are more interested in getting as much money off of the locals as fast as they can with crappy odds and rules. Go play at some of the other smaller local joints of you want to actually gamble (otherwise it is just a donation.)
