This means that the hotel’s September 11th memorial, which was put up just days after the attacks, will be getting removed to make room for new features.

According to MGM officials, the shrine will be relocated to another spot where it will live permanently. They are currently working with representatives of the First Responder community in Las Vegas to figure out where the best place to put it would be.

The renovations are going to transform the casino’s promenade area, as well as the area in front of the Monte Carlo Resort & Casino, into a place reminiscent of Madison Square Park with trees, benches and food trucks.
