Great Place to visit!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This casino has great customer service except in the buffet. We had lunch buffet and when we came up to be seated the host walked so fast that we almost lost him going to the table. Then we both had ate a dish of food before we got anything to drink. When I asked for a beverage the girls response we would get it as soon as she could find our waitress. There was a woman named Corey that worked in valet that was helping out and from just watching her we could see that she could work circle around their wait staff. All the waitress were walking around like they couldn't care if they were there or not. This was our only complaint. The rest of the casino experience was great. They need to consider a course on customer service for the restaurant staff. You will have a great time here. Thanks.
no payback
not one win in 7 years!!!!!!!!!!
Tighest Slots in the Northwoods
Have played the slots for about 10 years regularly at Torches and at about 12 of the other casinos in WI and MI. It is a nice atmosphere, but you will pay dearly for it. The slots must have about a 80% payback chip in them, some of the worst I would venture to say in the northwoods.
Restaurant used to be good for the money and used to have a nice variety menu years ago, now that is way overpriced. Staff always seems unfriendly at the players club. Offer a lot of promotions for cheap gifts, and other baits to get you in the door.
Hotel stays and pool facilities are above average, and a lot of times are offered at fair rates. A nice place to visit, but watch your $ go faassstttt. You don't even see as many locals in there, because they know the new machines are tighter and tighter.
Super tight penny slots
Went here for New Years Eve with the wife. Played between .15 and .75 per spin (mostly 30 or 40 cents a spin) and lost $500. Very bad experience. Never got a bonus above $40 all night and that was playing .75, got a 40 cent free spin bonus though on a Money to Burn machine playing .30/spin!
Atmosphere and layout seemed nice but the slots were extremely tight. Tried quite a few. The casino wasn't very busy for a New Years Eve and now we know why. Seems like people were enjoying themselves playing Blackjack though.
They need to loosen up their slots to get people to come back. This casino has had some some financial corruption internally in its recent history so perhaps they are trying to recover for it. Had not been here in about a year and just when I thought it couldn't have been any tighter than that time it was.
The players club and staff seemed nice and friendly though. I was going to have steak for New Years (instead of the seafood buffet which would have been the same price) but at $30/plate from here we opted for the snack bar, and I'm fairly certain I got food poisoning from their snack bar. Will not be coming back anytime soon.
Lake of the Torches
Located in Wisconsin's north woods. On the shores of Lake Pokegma. Many rooms have lakeview. Very good buffet. Many .01,.02,.05 machines. Buy beer and liquor right across the street.
