My casino
This is my preferred casino in Atlantic City. I like Total Rewards, their comp program, because it is good at 4 casinos in town, one in Pennsylvania, and others in Vegas and across the country. The hotel rooms are very nice, many with good views of the ocean. The table game dealers are very professional yet easy going. And the average customer skews much younger than many of the other casinos in town. The place has a party atmosphere especially when you compare it to Resorts which now has a 1920s theme. The buffet is very nice, but getting pricey especially on Saturdays when they have lobster. My only complaint is that they never seem to have enough employees working at the front desk for check-in.
Showboat showed me nothing
Slots are tight, the blackjack games on the main floor are the worst in AC. The only thing good here are the drinks. Checkin and Checkout lines are ridiculous.
Terrible experience and terrible management. Neve
My girlfriend, sister, her boyfriend, and I stayed at the showboat on a Saturday night. After going to bed at around 1, we were woken up around 4 A.M. by management asking us to leave for repeated noise violations. We had not spent any time in the room, besides going to sleep (which we had been doing for 3 hours). Told them we were not leaving and shut the door. 20 minutes later, the cops broke down the door and rudely escorted the four of us out at 4:30 a.m. They charged us an extra $110 for the door "we broke." Management was extremely rude, and would not listen to our concerns. Nor did they even consider that four people in pajama's in a spotless room could have possibly NOT been the cause of the noise coming from the room next door (the room next to us had about 10 people and were partying all night). Before you save money on a cheap room here, think about whether you want to risk have a wonderful trip go completely wrong due to the incredibly incompetent management that runs this place. It doesn't save money when you're charged for double the amount you had expected to pay.
Also, check-in took about 45 minutes because only two people were at the desk.
Su-Su the bartender was the only pleasant part of the experience,
I have a suite booked for valentine's day weekend which I will now switch to a different establishment.
I plan to post this review on every website possible. After paying $150, I would expect to be NOT woken up, escorted out by the police, and charged for the door they broke down. I know a similar story will not likely happen to many guests, but I want it to be known how their management handles their customer concerns.
Favorite place in Atlantic City
Tend to go to Atlantic City once a month and always find myself going to the Showboat. I like the fact that if you are at one of the poker bars you actually get your beverage comped!!! It is also the place that I hit my first Royal Flush!!
The buffet is great and the new promotion on Monday and Wednesday makes it even better (25 credits gets you 2 free buffet tickets!)
Overall, it is the best casino in Atlantic City
Tight, Tight slots!!!
I swore the last time I came to the Showboat that it would be my last, but my friends wanted to try again. This was my 6th trip to the Showboat. I had the list showing that they run the tightest slots in Atlantic City. It was not just my imagination. But again I went and I have to say the slots were no better on this trip.
I was sitting there begging for a cherry and ended up calling it quits. I love the atmosphere, it is nice and bright and very clean. The food service is very good and priced well for the most past. The crowd was a little younger than at most casinos in Atlantic City.
I am 47 years old and still felt like the old man at the tables and pretty much overall. The Showboat would be a great place to stay and play if they would just loosen up the slots some. I would go there everytime if that were the case. I travel to AC 4-5 times per year. Last but not least, I wish they had more cocktail waitresses. I found myself waiting 10-15 mins for a drink.

Not Too Bad
If you ever see the annual report on the payback percentages for gaming machines at all Atlantic City casinos this place is always at the bottom.
Even though their paybacks are so low it's interesting to see that they do have some decent 9/6 Jacks or Better games for quarter players in the House of Blues casino.
I have stayed in the hotel on several occasinons and the rooms are fine, but nothing fancy.
I tried the coffee shop on my last visit and the food, as well as the service, were both good. I never tried the buffet, but I have heard that it is good.
Showboat AC
Showboat has undergone some drastic changes over the last few years. Chief among these are the addition of the House of Blues. This changed the layout of the casino to add floorspace for the restaurant and night club and a themed section of the casino. The main floor is large with plenty of table games (craps, roulette, blackjack, 3 card poker, 4 card poker, let it ride, Texas Holdem Bonus) and there is a nice Asian pit with Bacarrat, mini-bac, Pai Gow Tiles and Pai Gow Poker). Minimums are typically $10 and up (higher on weekend). Slots are what you'd expect in AC. All the new ones, mid-90's payout, VP abounds, not a whole lot to speak of there but does include the progressive Spin Poker (linked to all AC casinos).
This also includes a themed poker room on the second floor (next to the House of Blues theatre) that hosts different limit games, daily tournaments (2-3x a day) and even WSOP circuit events. Once side dedicated to tournaments, other side for live games. Small menu for poker table dining (sandwiches and pizza).
Showboat is still owned by Harrahs and maintains the Total Rewards card. Like all other properties in the Harrahs chains, being a higher status is king. Quicker lines for cash outs, better seating in the buffet.
Buffet - a very good buffet featuring a seafood (lobster) on Friday night. Other nights are also good with different sections (italian, chinese, seafood, carving station).
Restaurants - there is a the standard 24-hr a day cafe on the second floor and a quick take-out cafe near the bus lobby/parking garage. Sub-par but passable. There is an excellent Italian and Chophouse on the bottom floor along with the House of Blues restaurant. There is also an excellent noodle bar next to the new high-limit room in the Asian area.
Parking - Valet is free for Platinum/Diamond (and only available to them on weekends). Self-parking free to all rewards members all week, $5 for others. There is also a Total Rewards shuttle - free to cardmembers - to other Harrahs properties in AC (Harrahs, Caesars, Ballys)
Some Decent Video Poker
I usually stay at Showboat when visiting Atlantic City.
They have some quarter 9/6 video poker machines in the House of Blues casino.
Based on my play on those machines, I usually get offers in the mail for a free room during mid-week.
As with most Harrah's properties, the rooms are nice.
Showboat
Have to agree with Ross review. Not much more I can say.
My Favorite Casino in AC
This is always the first place I visit in AC. It has a good variety of slots.
The Buffet is very good. The rooms are also very nice.
The best place to stay in ac
This is the best place to stay and play in Atlantic City. We stay at Showboat almost everytime we go.
They are friendly, the rooms are clean and the Buffet is out of this world. The place to gamblea at as far as im concerned. The only downfall is no indoor pool, but oh well.
We only stay at properties owned by Harrah's they treat you the best by far!!!!
Great video poker
Showboat is my home casino in AC. Some great video poker in the House of Blues area, although they recently changed some of the games on the machines.
It really helps that it's non-smoking in that area. They also have a number of double bonus double jackpot ($2,000 for the royal on quarters) VP machines at the Boat.
The Buffet is good, but has gone downhill some in the past few months. It is even closed on Wednesdays and Thursday in the winter, which stinks because those are my days off. They wil make a special dish for Diamond card holders.
Diamond Club is decent but the lines can get nasty and sometimes, especially if you are a woman, the drink service can be slow. Bourbon Tower rooms have been renovated. they are bit smaller that the Orleans Tower but are much closer to the heart of the casino and have great flat-screen TVs with some HD channels.
Good selection of slots but it can get crowded when the buses pull in. Free parking for Platinum and Diamond card holders and golds can get it by putting 25 points on your card (it's probably better to just pay the $5).
