It's better than the other reviewers say
Not a really large place but clean and well maintained. Valet parking is cheap and worth the few bucks. Machines aren't the loosest in the world but they do pay and sometimes pretty well. Lots of varieties of slots and lots of new or recent games. I miss live poker and blackjack but, oh well Didn't try the food but will next time. There are no table games. I gave them a top rating because I'd imagine if they had them they'd be good too - required to rate. No experience with hotel but required to rate so gave it high marks too. I had a good time and will be back.
Had Enough!!!
I have had enough of this so called “casino”. I cannot agree more with the comments below. I have visited many times since the opening a few years ago, and each time the experience is more disappointing than the last.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. DRIVE TO THE NEXT ONE!!!
Discouraged!
We have been going to this casino for a little over a year now. (It is the closest one to where we live.) Although it is "fun and exciting," the food is decent and MOST of the staff are friendly, (with the exception of a few Buffet workers who saw fit to laugh and make jokes at our expense) we have been quite disappointed with how much money we have lost there. The machines are very tight, indeed! You have to spend a lot in order to win a little. Even when you play the maximum bet, the payout is very low most of the time. Also, we found out that our favorite breakfast spot (Coasters) has recently stopped serving breakfast and that Owego Soft-Serve has taken its place. NO COMPARISON! Coasters served quality food at a great price... OSS serves very low-quality food at a ridiculous price. We have spent a lot of time and money here and although it IS fun, we are getting more and more discouraged and ready to call it a day and take our business elsewhere. :(
PLAYER
One of the tightest casinos I have ever played in. But what would you expect from New York state? They always take the largest percentage of everything from it's people and businesses. Too much bad management. I am not sure it will survive the long term with its competition from neighboring states and indian casinos.
Tioga Downs Review
Stay away from this place! The tightest slots in the world exist here. We are local and you cannot win anything at this " vegas owner run "slot joke now. When it first opened it was paying out and was fun. Now you will not win anything now...you will lose your shirt and your pants too. They even treat the locals now like they are dirt off the street and they keep raising the cost of drinks and the machines keep getting tighter and tighter..the waitresses hardly come around and if you don't tip them substantially you will never see them again. Don't even think about it .if you want to gamble to actually win and not be subjected to a almost 35% taxation, then what you are left with is considered taxable income! If you are one of the lucky ones that hits a measly jackpot that happens once a week for $2500. Go to indian reservation casinos, you will not be taxed period. You get what the machine pays out ... It took thousands of dollars to realize you can't win at tioga downs.. Wake up.
Pretend Casino
This place has gone downhill since its opening. Customer service is non-existent. Players Club points are not good for anything except food. Machine card readers don't work half the time during give-a-ways so they don't actually end up giving out the prizes. Free play coupons are pathetically low.....$20 per week is the top level coupon. If you do happen to win, you are followed to the cashier cage by employees waiting for a "tip".
The food at the bar is good, the buffet has eatable food but nothing outstanding. The cashiers are nice and polite. The bartender's, Joe, John, Dawn and Kathy are good at what they do but when it's busy do not have enough help. Jeff Gural, the owner has been there before and is not very friendly and acts like he's too rich for his brain to handle. A guy who walks around in a suit name Jarrod has no social skills. The cocktail waitresses take about 10 minutes to get a drink but they are nice girls. Now that they have an established business this casino does not care about the regulars who kept it going in the beginning!
unfortunate
Treated very poorly by staff, expecially by the man named Jason. He is very rude and inconsiderate - very poor customer serivce.
Large percentage of employees are careless and don't care if you are happy with your visit to the casino or not.
Might be "a short drive away" but it's worth it to go the extra distance to the next casino!
?
ok
it's not bad it's close to home and once in a while i can win. don't know how they do it?
